Artist's Comments

I started this painting for the Open Figure Drawing Workshop on cgtalk but didn't manage to finish it for the deadline. The original is a painting by Ingres, called "Princesse Albert de Broglie, nee Josphine-Eleonore-Marie-Pauline de Galard de Brassac de Bearn" (phew!).
I used the grid method to help me with the drawing and it was all painted with a Wacom graphire in Photoshop. I'm not exactly sure how long it took me because I worked on it off and on for months. But I can assure you it took many hours!! I did not start the painting in greyscale, but started immediately with color. If anyone is interested in seeing the WIP thread it can be found here:

Ingres by ~vivien82, a breathtaking recreation of Princesse Albert de Broglie, née Joséphine-Eléonore-Marie-Pauline de Galard de Brassac de Béarn by French painter Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres. It's amazing to see the amount of time and detail the artist devoted to bring new life to this 1853 oil painting. (Suggested by ^LadyLincoln and Featured by `jgfeller)

:omg: that... is deadly! I think you are one of the few artists left who are into detail!!! The creases and the texture of the lady's dress looks touchable and the light and shade is purely realistic! wow, it looks like you oil-painted this portrait! seriously!! :eyepopping:

heh heh, i hate royals who has uber long names.
